Greetings from The Athletic on 17:29 - Aug 6 with 1048 views | Chesham_Saint | Well I say welcome and good luck (you’ll need it on here). Most importantly you’ll need to list your top 3 biscuits and pronto if you want any reasoned (hah!) responses...

Greetings from The Athletic on 18:15 - Aug 6 with 1019 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | So you need to learn some more stuff; Listen to and learn the words to the Woolston Ferry Understand what 'What's on mush how's the nipper' means Ignore the helmets in replica shirts on top of hoodies Avoid London away matches and go to the Northern ones for better support Get in the proper pubs before the match, not the modern football ones Go to a Portsmouth match in the away end Watch every single one of Matt's goals Watch Pahars nutmeg Stam again and again and again Watch the 1976 final Then you'll find out more about Southampton. Welcome, enjoy, mush! [Post edited 6 Aug 2019 18:16]

Greetings from The Athletic on 21:01 - Aug 6 with 862 views | BoondockSaint | Never mind the biscuits! You'll need a Top Three Alcoholic Beverages here! --A weak one for when Saints win and you have to keep a clear head while we start dreaming of a Top Four finish. ---A medium strength for when Saints draw and we regret the dropped points. ---And the really hard stuff for when Saints lose and you have to read our comments! All the best!
Greetings from The Athletic on 22:36 - Aug 6 with 808 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | p.s. this forum is better than Saintsweb. Everyone that posts on here is massively rich jet-setting businessmen, living Billions lifestyles and are the best dressed supporters you'll come across. One of our regular posters has an AEG dishwasher.

Greetings from The Athletic on 07:13 - Aug 7 with 673 views | Kennington | Solid biscuit choice A14A. Lots of interesting and underreported angles you could start digging around at. Although the club is premier league and relatively large it has a woeful local set of journalists at the Echo, who are just yes men to the club. The national papers are rarely interested unless it’s a piece about us selling to a big club. I’d start with trying to find out: Is our owner really fit and proper to own a club. Does the Chinese govt. have any involvement with the ownership? What is LD Sports and why are they sponsoring us? Why does a club that has been in the premier league for 6 (or is it 7?) seasons have a nil transfer fund? Why are we the only team without replica kits on sale? Might be a story there about some gross cock-up. Why do players of Lemina’s ilk dislike the club so much that they’re apparently desperate to move to similar sized clubs? Greetings from The Athletic on 12:48 - Aug 7 with 517 views | saints__fan__73 | You get a couple of free articles via their mobile app. Here's a copy and paste: This season isn’t the first time there’s been a delay in the kit. Are we going to see out our Under Armour contract?” When a Saints fan, known only as Daniel, had his question posed right at the end of Southampton’s summer fan forum in mid July, everyone involved in the club must have hoped the delay in kit deliveries would be solved sooner rather than later. But as July turned to August and the season opener against Burnley hurtles into view, Southampton fans are unable to buy the new home kit, following on from delays with the away strip last season. Currently priced at £55 via the online club store, the 19/20 home kit remains available for pre order, citing “unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the club and our sponsors”, for the delay in delivery. A trip to Southampton’s club store in Saint Mary’s found The Athletic unable to purchase the strip via the traditional bricks and mortar method too. Fans are worried and an apology soon came from the club. “Southampton Football Club would like to apologise to our supporters for the delay in the release of the 2019/20 kit,” said a statement. “We understand your frustration and we’re doing everything in our power to make the kits available to purchase as quickly as possible.” It’s not all bad news. If you head over to the website of Southampton’s kit manufacturer Under Armour, you’ll find that while the home shirt is unavailable for purchase, replica shorts are available. Sleeve sponsors Virgin, who were the shirt’s main sponsors last season, were surprised to be told by The Athletic that the shirt was unavailable. With little information forthcoming from Southampton’s new shirt sponsor – LD Sports – a relative newcomer on the footballing scene, a bizarre fan rumour involving a shipping container with the kits falling into the sea, whilst coming over from America, has steadily built over the summer. That seems unlikely but confusion does persist over who LD Sports are. The new sponsors call themselves a ‘brand new sports content, marketing and entertainment platform’ for the Chinese market but their website is largely a list of Southampton’s fixtures, results and players. Southampton are owned by the Gao family from China. Couple this with Southampton playing in their away kit for four of their five friendlies in pre-season and some fans have wondered if they could be set for a West Ham 08/09 or 15/16 season with their home kit undergoing drastic changes partway through the Premier League campaign. That, however, was because of the collapse of their sponsors and there is no suggestion the same is happening to Southampton. In conversation with fans at Southampton’s pre-season game against FC Köln (the one friendly where Southampton did indeed wear the home kit), The Athletic learned that the new home kit is so scarce, that any fans seen wearing it are viewed with a mix of shock and suspicion. One part “Where did you find that?”, to two parts “Is that a counterfeit?” As time ticks on, Southampton’s decision to launch the kit with a Fyre Festival spoof video looks more like foreboding, rather than chucklesome laugh. It was Southampton’s Chief Commercial Officer David Thomas who answered Daniel’s question at the Southampton’s summer fan forum on the 18 July in a comprehensive two-part answer: “It’s fair to say we have had a couple of issues over the last couple of seasons with delivery of the kit. To be fair to Under Armour, the issue we have this year has nothing to do with them. It’s a third-party issue. I can’t tell you any more detail around that because we’re still in the situation where we’re trying to resolve it. “To be fair to Under Armour it isn’t their mix-up, but they are working really hard to help resolve it. We have a seven-year contract with Under Armour, we’re just entering the fourth year now. That’s really good for us as a club to have a long-term partnership because it means I can be focused on finding other sponsors and bring in incremental revenue and not try to replace any that’s left, but also, Under Armour are a really good partner. “We are their main asset in football – they were with Aston Villa and they were with Spurs – in the Premier League we are their only asset. They’re stripping out partnerships in other sports but they are remaining with us. That really shows how committed they are to us. Actually, their kit is brilliant, technically. Two things: Are they a good partner for us? Are they with us long term? Yes.” So what happens next? Here’s what we know for sure: Southampton’s home shirt will feature red and white stripes with black panelling on the shoulders throughout the 19/20 Premier League season. The most recent available edition of the Premier League Handbook states that clubs have to register their strips eight weeks before the new season and The Athletic understands that Southampton complied with these rules as early as May (when the home kit was launched on social media). But if there are any changes that need making, it’s not impossible because clubs can only swap to a different shirt with permission from the Premier League board given two weeks before any change. Conversation between the Premier League and The Athletic has confirmed there is no rule regarding timings around sale of any kits, and with Southampton’s opening two fixtures away from home against the claret and blue wearing Burnley FC, The Athleticexpects Southampton players to be wearing their black away strip for the season opener. Southampton declined to comment several times yesterday.
