Gazette claims Pool were playing 1-3-5-2 system last Night? 20:28 - Nov 6 with 275 viewsOsbourne

I find this hard to believe.

Surely Pool were playing the usual 1-4-4-2?

Reverting to 1-4-4-1 in the 2nd half for obvious reasons.

Pool fans who were at Craven Cottage - What is the truth?

I'm finding it hard to fathom your formations. Are you saying we were playing with a sweeper?

I thought we played a variation on 4-4-1-1 for 40 minutes. Then just 4-4-1.

Edit to add, you've included the 'keeper, now I understand what you mean.

Yes,
Sorry I included the keeper.
The formations are directly taken from todays Gazette.
I myself was not at the match, too far for me, I was listening on the radio.
Without keeper formations would be :

1st half : 3-5-2 ? Clarke, Daniels, Dunn only at the back??
2nd half - after the red card : 4-4-1

Sorry, you are right, it is not usual to include the keeper!

Dunne was certainly playing more centrally but was nominally the full back. Blackman was in effect playing wing back along with McMahon.

When we had the ball it was more like 442 as Blackman got further on.

Was the 1 in the 1-3-5-2 system Joe Lewis! Never heard a keeper mentioned in a formation .. usually just a 4-3-3, a 4-4-3 or a 5-3-2 .. not sure why the stuck the 1 in!!

Poll: Would you play Nile Ranger from the start against Reading?

The 3-5-2 formation is an interesting one.

I guess it is pretty much the same as a 4-4-2 formation.

I would be interested to see Pool playing this 3-5-2 formation at Bloomfield Road. I suspect that the idea behind it, is to catch the opposition unaware. Get 2 or 3 goals up in the first half and then revert to the more stable 4-4-2 in the second half and hold on?

As long as the players all know what they are doing it could work? Could leave us open at the back though!

Note to KOSBowlCut,
Read earlier posts on this Thread. I have already been told off for including Joe Lewis the goalkeeper in the formation! Sorry, I've leant the footballing 'lingo' now - it will not happen again! I personally think that 1-3-5-2 is more visually appealing than 3-5-2 which looks like we have only got 10 on the park - shades of Wednesday night!
