Jewell: Pompey Boss Shouldn't Have Talked About Norris
Jewell: Pompey Boss Shouldn't Have Talked About Norris
Friday, 25th Feb 2011 09:22 by TWTD.co.uk

Boss Paul Jewell says his Portsmouth counterpart Steve Cotterill shouldn't have spoken publicly about his interest in Town skipper David Norris during the transfer window. Cotterill, whose club is understood to have had a £250,000 offer rebuffed by the Blues, made a very public play for Norris, even claiming that he knew the 30-year-old wanted to move to Pompey.

Norris, who is out of contract in the summer, subsequently stated that he wants to stay at Town and Jewell says bosses shouldn’t talk about other clubs’ players in that manner: “The Portsmouth manager seems to have a lot to say about our players.

“Chuck will get his wish if Steve Cotterill’s to be believed because one of the two clubs he’s desperate to play for is going to be here on Saturday. I don’t know which one that is, but he hasn’t intimated to me that he’s going to leave. He’s happy to stay, I’m happy to keep him. What will be, will be.

“I don’t think it’s right for me to comment on other teams' players and vice versa, I don’t think it’s right for managers to comment on mine, but I can’t help that.”

Norris could be back from his ankle injury to face Pompey on Saturday with Jewell reporting no new injuries, aside from Colin Healy’s torn stomach muscle: “There are one or two bumps and bruises from the other night but nothing to worry about.”
