Rodgers Yet to Decide on Priskin Move
Rodgers Yet to Decide on Priskin Move

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers says he’s not yet decided whether he’ll look to sign on-loan Town striker Tamás Priskin on a permanent basis in the summer. After yesterday’s 4-1 defeat of the Blues, the Northern Irishman revealed that the 24-year-old is out for the season with a knee injury.

Rodgers says that Priskin underwent a scan which showed that the Hungarian is unlikely to play again this season, even if the Swans book a date at Wembley: “Priskin is struggling. That will be him really, I would think. He’s just unfortunate, he’s taken a knock. We had the scan yesterday and it shows that he’ll be out for four to six weeks.

“If he were to be available that wouldn’t be until late, late May, but that’s a ‘what if’ scenario, so unfortunately he’ll probably go back. The play-off final is late May but he could even be struggling for that.

“I’ve spoken to the boy, who is disappointed because he’s loved it down here. I’ll speak with Paul Jewell and we’ll see where we go, but that’s what the scan has revealed.”

The Swansea boss says he’s yet to seriously consider whether to sign Priskin, who played under him at Watford, on a full-time basis in the summer: “I haven’t thought about it really. I’ve worked with Tamás before, I know him well, he’s a good kid, he suits our style and he’s done well since he’s come here.

“We’ll see. He’s obviously done well for Ipswich in parts and I’m sure Paul will want to have a look at him and see what happens from there.”

Town boss Jewell confirmed that Priskin would be returning to Town: “He came to the hotel last night with his scan and the physio looked at it. I think he’ll probably come back to us and we’ll make sure he’s fit for next season.”

Priskin, who cost the Blues £1.7 million when he signed from Watford in the summer of 2009, has another year left on his Town contract.
