Robinson Cleans Up In JackArmy.net Awards

Robinson Cleans Up In JackArmy.net Awards

Fans were asked to vote for their favourites in three categories and close on 200 votes were received in total with Andy racking up an impressive 840 points compared to top scorer Trundle's 494.

Player Of The Year Result

Robinson has long been the clear favourite to walk away with the accolades at the end of this season despite the entertainment and goals supplied by new arrival Lee Trundle. It has been Robinson who has caught the eye of the fans with his 'never say die' attitude in games and

2. Lee Trundle494
3. Alan Tate62
4. Izzy Iriekpen59
5. Leon Britton39
his double figured goal tally along side it. Picked up from Tranmere Rovers on a free last summer, there is little doubt that Robinson will be listed as the best arrival that Brian Flynn gave to the club and he was soon rewarded with an extension to the one year contract that he was offered back in the summer.

Arguably Robinson's golden moment of the season came with a superb free kick against Preston that sparked a Swansea come back when it looked as if their FA Cup run may come to an end. Robinson also put the Swans ahead in the fifth round at his former club Tranmere.

In third and fourth place, but a long way back, come the central defensive pairing of Alan Tate and Izzy Iriekpen whilst Leon Britton just staves off the challenge of Kristian O'Leary to come in 5th.

There is a double award for Robinson as well as his above mentioned goal against Preston has been voted by the fans as their Swans goal of the season. With Preston seemingly in control of the cup tie, it was Robinson from around 25 yards who hit an unstoppable shot into the back of the net to draw Swansea level and send a capacity Vetch crowd into raptures back in January. The second goal in that game, scored by Lee Trundle was voted for in 3rd place with the two goals sandwiched by a great solo effort from the now departed Kieron Durkan against Rushden and Diamonds in Round One.

Goal Of The Season Result

The name of Lee Trundle features strong in the list and he scored the goals that occupied fourth and fifth position in the voting. His goal against Orient back in October came in 4th, whilst the effort against Boston in August was voted in 5th place just nudging out goals he scored

2. Durkan v Rushden248
3. Trundle v Preston148
4. Trundle v Orient118
5. Trundle v Boston52

against Huddersfield, Macclesfield (FA Cup) and a last minute winner against Yeovil at the Vetch.

In the final category, fans were asked to vote for their favourite game of the season and I guess it can be no surprise that the Fourth Round win over Preston got the fans vote as the best game they have seen this season. Although the Swans were outplayed for long periods of the game, it was a great finish and a terrific atmosphere at the Vetch that I guess swung the voting in the end and this is your match of the season.

Match Of The Season Result

It will come as no surprise to learn that the next five games in the voting were all league wins, with the 4-3 win away at Cheltenham, aided by a Trundle hat-trick coming in second place ahead of the 3-2 win over Yeovil at Christmas.

1. Preston (FA Cup)479
2. Cheltenham (Away)303
3. Yeovil (Home)263
4. Doncaster (Home)144
5. Mansfield (Home)71

The 1-1 draw with champions elect Doncaster was fourth, well ahead of the 4-1 destruction of Mansfield at the Vetch back in August. The opening day win over Bury came in 6th place whilst the highest place defeat was the FA Cup Fifth Round tie at Tranmere which came in 7th.

There is though no disputing the man that has captured the hearts and imaginations of the Swansea support this season and it is the midfield man from Liverpool who the fans have adopted as one of their own and for that reason alone we salute
