Jeers May Inspire Trundle

"Boos Will Inspire Lee Trundle"

Carlisle manager Neil McDonald has warned his supporters that barracking Lee Trundle on Saturday may well inspire the striker to end their season with goals at Brunton Park.

And McDonald is all to well aware of the threat of Trundle who is not a popular figure with the Cumbrians after an 'exaggerated dive' in a fixture between the two sides almost four years ago.

And when you couple that with a great goal at the Millennium Stadium in last year's Football League trophy final you have the recipe for a bit of barracking from the home side.

But boss McDonald has warned his defenders that they must remain focused on the job in hand and not get caught up in the jeering "I don't know what has gone on in the past here with Trundle - but I do know he's a very, very good player," McDonald told the Carlisle News & Star. "If he gets some grief from our fans, that's up to them. That sort of thing might inspire him, you never know. "But we can't do anything about that and we certainly can't be distracted by it. "We just have to make sure our centre-halves and the rest of the team are right on his back to make sure he doesn't do any damage."
