Blackpool v Rotherham Preview
Sunday, 28th Dec 2014 10:27 by Editor

So to the halfway point of the season. After we've played Rotherham, there'll be 23 games on the point and at the moment 13 points to show for it. In the second half of last season we mustered just 14 points, so at least Lee Clark and his side have a chance to better what their predecessors did at the start of the year. Either way less than 30 points for what is effectively a whole season of football reflects where we're up to. We are in real relegation form and it's unlikely even the most optimistic Blackpool fan will feel we'll get out of this in 2015.

That said, a win against Rotherham and a few results going our way would keep us in the mix and then in January if we can get a few new faces in before we play Millwall at home then a win against Ollie's men would put us in with a fighting chance. There again, we'd still even then need another 31 points and it's a brave man who'd put any money on us doing that. The task at Rotherham is made all the more difficult after the fall out from Friday's defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Ishmael Miller will serve a one match ban after he was dismissed on Friday. Steven Davies picked up a neck injury and was forced off in the first half and is doubtful, while defenders Darren O'Dea and Donervon Daniels both with hamstring injuries also came off. Nyron Nosworthy failed a late fitness test on Boxing Day, Nile Ranger has not been at training for two weeks, while Jose Miguel Cubero, Gary MacKenzie and Tom Barkhuizen are all targeting January returns. Rotherham boss Steve Evans will change his side around. Evans has kept the same side for four games in a row but after they put in a poor display against Huddersfield, despite earning a point with two late goals, he will make changes at Bloomfield Road. Jonson Clarke-Harris and Lee Frecklington both came off the bench to score against the Terriers and they are in the frame for a starting berth.

So Goodbye 2014 and Good Riddance - and if you can take the Chairman with you and return Lady Luck then 2015 might just be a bit brighter.
