Blackpool 1 Rotherham 1

You'd hoped with the arrival of Lee Clark that Blackpool would have been fighting tooth and nail to avoid relegation but instead they seem to be cruising towards League One with many waiting to jump off board before we get there. Only some superb saves from keeper Joe Lewis and the arrival of two potential stars of the future Dom Telford and Mark Waddington gave Blackpool fans anything to smile about. The first 45 minutes of this game was about as dire as many fans will remember and one that most will try to forget in a hurry.

The visitors threatened in the early minutes of the game as they won a free kick just outside the box, and Joe Lewis was called on to make a good save to tip Emmanuel Ledesma's effort away from goal. Rotherham were well and truly on the front foot and came close to taking the lead when Lee Frecklington blasted a strike towards the top corner, only to be denied by another fine stop from Lewis. The Millers were handed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Tom Lawrence was fouled in the penalty area and a penalty was awarded. Lawrence took the spot kick himself, but Lewis once again denied the visitors with a great save. The visitors came inches from taking the lead as Jordan Bowery fired a strike at goal, but his effort clattered off the post and was cleared to safety before any of his teammates could react.

In the second half, Blackpool came out the stronger side and saw a goal disallowed when Nathan Delfouneso tapped in from close range, but was ruled offside as he slotted the ball into the net. Lee Clark's men came within inches of taking the lead as Andrea Orlandi's effort beat Adam Collin, but struck the post and the visitors managed to clear the danger from the rebound. Rotherham immediately raided up the opposite end of the pitch and took the lead as Ledesma turned two defenders inside out before firing a low effort with his right foot into the bottom corner. However, Blackpool managed to rally late in the game when they pumped a long ball forward into the box which fell kindly at the feet of Telford, who poked the ball past Collin from a tight angle to earn his side a point.

A poor game on a poor pitch to end a poor year. It would be nice to think that 2015 will bring a change in fortunes but most will know our fate is already set in stone.
