News Stories for Mark Waddington

Have we missed our first target? Wed 20th May 2015
As the season approached it was suggested that if everything fell in to place we'd have a decent spine of a team. With Orlandi, Cubero and O'Hara all looking good, Clark's contacts with Michael Jacobs, Hall and Daniels spoken about for a return in the defence and Gary Madine up front, that was looking like a decent League One side. Now all that is left is Nile Ranger (who has lost his A-Z) and a couple of blokes from Sunderland!
Cardiff City v Blackpool Preview Sat 25th Apr 2015
One final chance for Lee Clark and his team to get an away win and even then it's only pride that is at stake. Hard to believe after all those miles on the road this season that Blackpool have failed to pick up a single win and on a day when fans usually gather for a final away trip, it will instead be a time for wondering just where it all wrong (although for many that is easily answered). Whether the players have it in them to put in a performance which can reward them with that win will be answered in South Wales.
Ipswich v Blackpool Preview Fri 10th Apr 2015
If euthanasia was available in football, then Blackpool would be put out of their misery long before Saturday's trip to Portman Road. It is quite astonishing that the bookmakers are still edging their bets with odds on of 11/1 on an away win because anyone who puts money on that bet deserves at least ten times those odds. Imagine a 3 legged donkey going round the Grand National and that's Blackpool at Ipswich and don't expect the side to get anywhere near Beacher's Brook!
Blackpool v Reading Preview Tue 07th Apr 2015
A Dead Rubber, a Dead Duck, a Dead football club some would say but if you want a game with absolutely no meaning then the one tonight at Bloomfield Road provides it. Ridiculous it should have been moved in the first place from Bank Holiday Monday and now looks quite ridiculous that both teams needed rest before this game.
Brentford v Blackpool Preview Mon 23rd Feb 2015
Two games unbeaten for Lee Clark's side but four games without a win is the real stat. If Blackpool had won the last four games then they'd be knocking on the door to safety which shows that it can be done, however the chances of the Seasiders putting together a four game unbeaten run are as likely as Jeffrey Rentmeister being the next presenter of Top Gear. Another tough away trip takes 'Pool to Griffin Park where they face a Brentford surprise who have been one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season and could well end up in the top tier next season if they're form continues.
Blackpool v Millwall Preview Sat 10th Jan 2015
There was a time that match day would fill Blackpool fans with hope, excitement and expectation, nowadays they approach a game with hate, repulsion and anger. When will things ever return to normality at Bloomfield Road? The vast majority would answer that question with 'when the Oyston's pack up and go' but the chances of that happening are minimal. In the meantime, Lee Clark will be starting to realise just how difficult the owners of the club are to work with. Having brought through Dom Telford and Mark Waddington, with neither having let him down, Oyston has now demoted them back to his Youth Side for not agreeing to a misely wage.
Aston Villa 1 Blackpool 0 Sun 04th Jan 2015
There are some things that have become New Year traditions like the singing of Auld Lang Syne, being the first through the front door with a lump of coal and Jools Holland - well you can add to that list Blackpool's annual exit from the FA Cup. Another year but the same old story but if you contrast how the Seasiders exited this year's competition, it was with a lot more credibility than past years.
Blackpool 1 Rotherham 1 Sun 28th Dec 2014
You'd hoped with the arrival of Lee Clark that Blackpool would have been fighting tooth and nail to avoid relegation but instead they seem to be cruising towards League One with many waiting to jump off board before we get there. Only some superb saves from keeper Joe Lewis and the arrival of two potential stars of the future Dom Telford and Mark Waddington gave Blackpool fans anything to smile about. The first 45 minutes of this game was about as dire as many fans will remember and one that most will try to forget in a hurry.
Shrewsbury Town 1 Blackpool 0 Tue 12th Aug 2014
The previous League Cup exits have been dismissed fairly quickly. Even the defeat to them down the road was eased thanks to their fans mindless pitch invasion. However the defeat to Shrewsbury has far more serious ramifications. Whilst we may have been able to take something out of the second half against Forest, there was nothing for Blackpool fans to take out of this game.
And so it begins ... Mon 04th Aug 2014
One by one we've seen an exodus from Bloomfield road usually saved for when the fourth officials board goes up! By the time that Jose Riga had left Bloomfield Road with 3 points on the last day of the season, few would have expected that nearly two dozen players would have followed him out of the door and the Belgian would then return as manager! The problem is Jose now needs to replace the departed which finally has started today.
