Graeson Laitt was there at the final ever competitive match to be played at Layer Road as Fabian Quintyn enters the U's record books

Second Year YTS lad Fabian Quintyn will go down in history as the last U's player to score at Layer Road following his second half strike for the reserves tonight. Peterborough United were the visitors and succumbed to a three nil defeat with goals from Tom Webb and Luke Guttridge adding to Quintyn's strike.
There was some experience to the U's side for this Pontin's Combination League fixture with Kevin Watson and Luke Guttridge in midfield, Danny Granville at left back and Kevin McLeod upfront. United also included four triallists while Tom Webb, Mark Cousins and Tom Devaux made up the starting eleven.
All three of United's goals were of the highest quality. Webb opened the scoring midway through the first half side-stepping challenges inside the box before planting the ball past Posh's keeper.
The second was even better as Guttridge's sublime outside of the boot chip left the visitors keeper groping at thin air. United therefore went to the break two up in front of a crowd of about 500 or so who were there to sample the Layer Road atmosphere for the final time.
United's final historic goal came with fifteen minutes left. Striker Quintyn, who has been offered professional terms with the club looked unlikely to get to the pass to him as it bounced off the sodden Layer Road surface but he took a touch before volleying in to the net at the Clock End.
Joe Dunne's side had chances to add to the scoreline but a combination of stout defending and good goalkeeping kept the score down to just the three. At the final whistle fans took their time on the pitch as they finally said goodbye for the final time to Layer Road.
