The youth team gained victory against Cheltenham Team 2-1 , but not without a scare,to earn a home tie against neighbours Ipswich.In fact the U's were trailing at half time to a very early Cheltenham goal when a square U's back line failed to cut out a ball across the box to be slotted home from the edge of the six yard box . After that it was one way traffic mostly down the right wing with the impressive Brown causing problems, but a killer finish could not be found despite several close calls. However a rare attack almost saw the U's two down when a shot from just out side the area hit the underside of the bar but luckily clearly not behind the goal line to be cleared.
The youths made amends early in the second half when two quick goals gained the U's the upper hand. A deep cross to the far post was headed powerfully home from Dunne and just after centre forward Atkin was felled in the box and converted the resultant penalty. He could have had the U 's third later in the half but for a linesmen flag.
The only real curiosity about the display was there insistence with a short corner dispute winning most headers from the longer deliveries in the first half with a keeper reluctant to claim.
A deserved hard earned victory which has a local derby to look forward to in the next round.
