Alas - like the old baseball ground - at Derby - those OLD grounds had something that will never ever be had again - ITS CALLED SOUL & SPIRIT.

Well, what can you do.........make the best of it I suppose.

Memories - at the corner of my mind...misty water coloured memories ...of the way we were.......

Never made it to the Baseball Ground and Pride Park is one of my 18 league grounds left to do out of the 92.

Bizarrely I went to a wedding at Pride Park in 2004.

New grounds are the price of progress and no one likes change.

Pride Park however looks to be one of the better new stadia with some thought gone into the design

If only we could play our last 3 games at Layer Road.

Id be as certain of survival as I am of relegation in the real world.

Now that would an interesting one - the players would have to negotiate the Peter Wright statue and play through people's front rooms and dining areas, high crosses would rain in from the bedrooms and back gardens would provide space for the goals.

But I take your point - playing at the famous Layer Road could have worked wonders.

However we have moved on, the WHCS will be rocking against the Robins and the Lilywhites.

The U's can do this - staying up, staying up, staying up and now you're gonna believe us the U's are staying up!

Up the U's
