A warm welcome to all members old and new, as the Happy League is about to start its 13th season.
I will start with a quick re-cap from last season, for anybody who didn't read the season round-up thread. From the 300 games played the top ten results were as follows:-

Onto this season, and I will start with a reminder of a rule. That is anybody failing to post their predictions four weeks in a row will be dismissed from all Happy League competitions. No need for this to happen though, because if you are not going to be around to post predictions any week, just let me know in advance if you want all 1-0's, 2-1's etc. Anybody failing to post anything at all will receive no points for that week.
After the controversy last season over usernames with all caps being reduced to upper and lower case in the league tables, I have decided all usernames will appear in full this season, with the leader of each division to be in bold.
The season will start on August 8th, and will run for 38 weeks, with play-offs and Charity Shield to follow. Fixtures will be the usual Pick 6, with a guest Pick 10 every three weeks (first one to be on Week 4). There will also be a Pick 10 on Week 38, to finish the season, picked by myself.
Anybody who hasn't registered on the registration thread can still post their predictions, and they will then count as being registered.
With three weeks to go until the start of the season, we still have twelve members in each division, so there will be three promoted from Division 1 (two automatic, one from play-offs). If there are any more new members joining before the start of the season, there maybe one more promoted, as every effort will be made to keep the numbers equal in each division. The two divisions as they stand are as follows:-

Blackpool's friendly v Morecambe, 28 July, has been called off due to safety concerns.
I feel for their plight but there comes a point where their supporters may have the club expelled from the FL altogether. Is that what they want?
Our board has been sympathetic, but enough is enough. I wouldn't buy a ticket for 8 August. It's vague how that may turn out.

Good point, Gerry. You have to wonder what the Blackpool "fans" have planned for this game. The rule is any abandoned game counts as a no result, with an extra game added to the following weeks fixtures. Last season we had the Bury v Southend game that was abandoned after five minutes. | |

I'll just take my 'energy'out on the league ! again !

I recall reading somewhere that the Blackpool fans aim to target their home games (in the league) for boycotts and/or disruption - a bit like Coventry when they were playing at Sixfields, and the same reason as I won't go to MK - no desire to financially support the regime. |  |

I tried the "abandoned " thing already Wessex and was told it wouldn't count and extra fixture the following week. For the record I reckon 3-0 @ 75 minutes and then "keerpow"  |

Oh you know I didn't mean it like I said it. I just thought what the hey, let me post some numbers for week 1. Who knows if I will feel like it as deadline day approaches. I can at least relish having more points than Gerry after week one.
I really am also focusing on a 1000 mile move away back to Iowa from DC. There is a small chance it could even be a 3000 mile relocation all the way back to San Francisco.
Either scenario will be quite a chore. Although I did leave my heart in San Francisco (lived there 1990-2001). But I also left my heart in Iowa (most years from 2003-2011).
