Happy League 2015/16 Final Week 38 - Deadline Friday 19.45 18:21 - Apr 16 with 4061 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 37 Results

NORWICH 0 SUNDERLAND 3

Sunderland boost their survival hopes with this comfortable win. By scoring from the spot today, they have now scored with their last 17 penalties in the Premier League. Last missing one in December 2011. Nobody got this spot-on, and only 3 had the outcome. 15 predicted a win for Norwich.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1 ASTON VILLA 0
This defeat means Villa have gone 16 away games without a win, and are now relegated for the first time since 1987. Not surprisingly all 24 predicted a win for Man Utd, but they all expected them to score more than one. So it is just the one point for everybody.

NEWCASTLE 3 SWANSEA 0
Newcastle boost their hopes of survival, as they get their first win under Bernitez. Nobody had this spot-on, but 10 did get the outcome.

PRESTON 1 MK DONS 1
10-man franchise edge closer to relegation with this draw, after Preston miss a late penalty, to deny the 7 who had them to win 2-1. There were 3 who got this spot-on, and 1 other had the outcome. The other 20 predicted a Preston victory.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1 IPSWICH 1
Sixteen-year-old Andre Dozell scores on his debut for Ipswich. He is the son of Jason, who also scored on his debut for Ipswich as a sixteen-year-old. Well done to wessex_exile for being the only one to have this spot-on, with nobody getting the outcome. There were 22 who predicted a win for Sheff Wed.

CHESTERFIELD 0 SHEFFIELD UNITED 3
Sheff Utd keep their faint play-off hopes alive with this comfortable win. Another game that produces no 3 pointers, with 7 having the outcome.

COLCHESTER 1 PETERBOROUGH 4
The great escape hits the buffers, as the U's go back to their bad old ways. With 20 predicting a Colchester win, and the other 4 going for a draw, no points for anybody here.

FLEETWOOD 1 OLDHAM 1
Both teams stay in relegation trouble after this draw. A result that will please the 5 who got this spot-on, with 3 having the outcome.

LEYTON ORIENT 3 DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 2
Dag & Red are relegated with this defeat, after a nine year stay in the League. Nobody got this spot-on, but a big 21 did have the outcome.

PORTSMOUTH 1 PLYMOUTH 2
Plymouth score two in a minute late on, to come from behind, and beat their promotion rivals. Yet another game that doesn't produce any 3 pointers, and only desthegooner got the outcome. There were 18 who predicted a win for Portsmouth.

The penultimate week of the season, and what an incredibly tough one it turned out to be. In fact it was the lowest scoring 10 game week of the season, with only the three games ending 1-1, producing the weeks nine 3 pointers. The wins for Man Utd and Leyton Orient gave everybody some points, but five other bankers bit the dust. The 3 pointers were shared out with nine members getting one each, so the weeks top scorer was going to be the one who got the most other outcomes. That resulted in a tie, with RSCOSWORTH and concordman both getting four each, and a very good 7 points.
In the Premier, a solid 5 points for ethicsgirl, in what was a low scoring week, increases her lead to a decent 6 points. She also has far more 3 pointers than any of the challengers, so the title is hers to lose. Only three outcomes for mfb_cufc, but it was enough to move him up a place into second. But such is the battle for Charity Shield spots, with only two points separating second to fifth, this could be decided by the first to post rule. A big final week from sixth and seventh, Sector4 and wessex-exile, could see them gatecrash the party. The top scoring week for RSCOSWORTH eases his relegation worries, as any of the bottom three are now going to need a decent week to avoid the drop. A no show from TheNet hasn't helped his cause. So in a season where there has never been much between the top and bottom in this league, has come to the final week, with everybody except for perhaps noah4x4, having something to play for.
In Division One, another solid 5 points for burnsieespana has surely sealed the title for him. Automatic promotion has been secured, but who will join him? The favourite is still jonestones, and even though their play-off spots are all but secured, Tropical_Us and ColuKev will need a big final week to deprive him. With Barsidepete also getting a solid 5 points, he is looking good for one of the other play-off spots. The favourite for the final play-off place is gsy163, but after his top scoring effort this week, concordman will be looking for more of the same next week.

THE TABLES (270 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Gunnerjosh and s.sutton87 have been expelled from Division One.

Tottenham to win 3-1 is a 12/1 shot, so they are the odds for noah4x4 to avoid being relegated. Is there going to be a final twist, to what has been the closest Premier in Happy League history.

I've got a few quid on it but at 10/1.

Is this my worst year ever since the demise of the dinosaurs?

I played for Kidderminster Harriers (youth team) - Relegated in 2016.
I supported Aston Villa as a young man - Relegated in 2016
I now support Colchester United - Relegated in 2016
Now the Happy League Premier Relegated in 2016

I supported communism as a youth
Socialism as a teenager.
Capitalism as an adult
Now only rheumatism as an old codger

Yet I once won the Happy European Cup!

The only way is UP!
