Week 5 Results

ARSENAL 2 SOUTHAMPTON 1

Arsenal win it with a 94th minute penalty, as they scored with both of their shots on target. Not surprisingly everybody predicted an Arsenal victory, with a big 8 having it spot-on, and the other 19 getting 1 point for the outcome.

BURNLEY 1 HULL 1
Hull rescue a point with a 95th minute free-kick. This is good news for the massive 12 who got this spot-on, with 2 having the outcome. The 4 who had Burnley to win 1-0 were unfortunate.

MIDDLESBROUGH 1 CRYSTAL PALACE 2
Crystal Palace get their first win of the season, as Middlesbrough lose their unbeaten record. Just the 3 predicted a Crystal Palace victory, all of them 2-1.

FULHAM 0 BIRMINGHAM 1
Donaldson missed one penalty, before scoring another, as Birmingham beat 10-man Fulham. Nobody got this spot-on, and only 3 had the outcome. There were 18 who predicted a win for Fulham.

LEEDS 0 HUDDERSFIELD 1
Championship leaders Huddersfield remain unbeaten, as they beat a Leeds team, that now find themselves in the bottom three. Just the 2 had this spot-on, but there were 8 who got the outcome.

PRESTON 1 BARNSLEY 2
It is now nine home games without a win for Preston after this defeat. Ex U's George Moncur scored two goals on his debut for Peterborough, after being loaned out by Barnsley. Again only 2 got this spot-on, and there were 6 who had the outcome.

Not for the first time this season late goals in games made a big difference to how the Happy League points were distributed. The late winner for Arsenal meant 43 points were obtained by members, in what would have been zero without that goal. The late equaliser for Hull produced 38 points, and that would have been 18 if Burnley had won 1-0. So those late goals created another 63 points, and turned what would have been a pretty moderate week, especially with the other games ending in away wins, into a reasonable one for most. Someone who benefited from those late goals, by having the results spot-on, and by also getting 3 points for the Barnsley win, was concordman, and he is this weeks top scorer with an excellent 9 points. He was the only one to get three spot-on, and there were six who managed to have two spot-on, of which the best were Gate16 and RSCOSWORTH, who both got a very good 8 points.
In the Premier, it is still burnsieespana leading the way, but only by the most 3 pointers rule, as he is joined on 29 points by Gate16. After last weeks stumble thrillseeker reclaims the final Charity Shield spot, but by only posting before wessex_exile, who is benefiting from getting more 3 pointers than usual. After being last weeks biggest dropper in this league, RSCOSWORTH hits back by being this weeks biggest riser, as he is up three, and back into contention. After her slow start ethicsgirl moves into the top half for the first time this season, just ahead of mfb_cufc, who is down four, after a poor effort. It is still early in the season, but there are only 5 points separating the Charity Shield and relegation spots.
In Division One, a solid week from durham_exile extends his lead by a point, but it is now concordman in the other automatic spot, after his top scoring week took him up a massive nine places. The third place is occupied by another big riser, with OhOriOri moving up six. The ones to suffer most from their meteoric rise are noah4x4 down six, and mrhappy down five. Although he has more 1 point outcomes than anybody in both leagues, a lack of 3 pointers continues to hold back gerry_us. Daniel is still the only one without a 3 pointer, but a decent number of 1 point outcomes keeps him off the bottom. A position that is once again occupied by Colukev, after he failed to build on last weeks improved effort. But this league is just as tight as the Premier, with only six points separating second to twelfth.

THE TABLES (34 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

No problem, both sets of scores are the same.
