Not yet out of September and tonight’s match at the Checkatrade Stadium against Crawley is a must win (or for the half empty brigade a must not lose). Lunacy you say, but the table does not lie and Colchester could drop into the bottom half if we lose again against the Reds.
Dermot Drummy has certainly managed his charges to hit form with back to back victories and you can guarantee they will fancy themselves against the U’s this evening.
JM for his part is looking for a response following Saturday’s dismal defeat to Accrington Stanley. There is no excuse for lacklustre performances at home especially when we have now lost to Exeter and Accrington, effectively throwing 6 points away.
Tonight heralds back to back away games with the Cumbrians on Saturday at Brunton Park. It is imperative that Colchester remain within the top seven because all teams down as far as 16th will fancy their chances of play off opportunities. It is going to be a most competitive league this season.
Whilst JM looks for a reaction, he must also accept criticism for failing to start Brennan Dickenson, notwithstanding that he had an injury concern, he is either fit or not.
So an improved performance is required and three points in order to prepare for the long trip to the border City at the weekend.

Already a fifth of the way through the league season, the U’s must start to consolidate their league position and look to establish some consistency of results. I would have thought the boos still ringing in their ears from a small element of the WHCS would be enough to encourage a response and to gain some plaudits.
No disrespect to Crawley, but they are not going to be in the top seven come the end of the season and we must start to have the confidence to prevail at such locations.
The attendance will be greater than the 881 who witnessed the Checkatrade fixture. Safe journey to the travelling Roman Army. Enjoy the game.
