Have felt that perhaps 1 point for each season in the Prem as a token pat on the back would be more reflective of the World Rankings.
Because in theory a player who wins D1 and is relegated and then manages to eke out another promotion, that PLer will accumulate points while the steady as she goes PLer who doesn't win trophies but remains in the Prem, that one falls victim to a numbers game.
One would hardly rank Cardiff above the regular also rans of the Prem, for instance, to note a recent example in play.
