To complete a good but no cigar season for him. Thank yor everyone for the kind comments on the administration, and for winning the Premier title. As always they are very much appreciated. This is how the leagues look for the 203/24 season (In alphabetical order) wessex_exile was also bottom of the Premier at this stage last season, and said "I see I'm bottom already, better get used to it I suppose". A prediction he wished he had got wrong. Better luck this season. With numbers down to their lowest level for a long time, any new members are most welcolme. See the thread for Week 1 in the new season for more details. How did the 2022/23 games finish? Very average would would be a good way to sum it up, as the figures below show. 2014/15 Home wins 131 (43.67%) Away wins 94 (31.33%) Draws 75 (25.00%) 2015/16 Home wins 107 (35.66%) Away wins 119 (39.67%) Draws 74 (24.67%) 2016/17 Home wins 129 (43.00%) Away wins 91 (30.33%) Draws 80 (26.67%) 2017/18 Home wins 138 (46.00%) Away wins 88 (29.33%) Draws 74 (24.67%) 2018/19 Home wins 123 (41.00%) Away wins 94 (31.33%) Draws 83 (27.67%) 2019/20 Home wins 126 (42.00%) Away wins 97 (32.33%) Draws 77 (25.67%) 2020/21 Home wins 124 (41.33%) Away wins 105 (35.00%) Draws 71 (23.67%) 2021/22 Home wins 118 (39.33%) Away wins 100 (33.33%) Draws 82 (27.33%) 2022/23 Home wins 123 (41.00%) Away wins 104 (34.67%) Draws 73 (24.33%) In those nine seasons of my administration the 2700 games have ended with:- Home wins 1119 (41.44%) Away wins 892 (33.04%) Draws 689 (25.52%). This is why I said it has been very average, as last seasons figures are within a point of those nine season figures. Perhaps it just me, but I find it remarkable when these games are randomly picked by myself or a guest, but always end with vitually the same figures every season. As a matter of interest I looked at how last seasons games finished in the Premier and EFL, and these are my findings:- Premier League Home wins 184 (48.42%) Away wins 109 (28.68%) Draws 87 (22.90%) Championship Home wins 227 (41.12%) Away wins 176 (31.89%) Draws 149 (26.99%) League One Home wins 241 (43.66%) Away wins 171 (30.98%) Draws 140 (25.36%} League Two Home wins 229 (41.48%) Away wins 161 (29.17%) Draws 162 (29.35%) In total the 2036 games finished with Home wins 881 (43.27%) Away wins 617 (30.31%) Draws 538 (26.42%). Again that is very much in line with the Happy League, as the 3% more homes, and 3% less aways, is mainly due to the Premeir League figures, and those games don't have too much influence on the Happy League, due to few fixtures having a Saturday 15.00 kick-off. The results After being the top result for the previous two seasons, the 1-0 has to settle for being the clear best result for a home win this time round, as the 1-1 regains the crown as the top result. An impressive 38 for the season, averaging out at one per week, but backing that for every game would have only got you 151 points. Well short of winning either League. The 0-1 was the best result for an away win againg, after losing out to the 1-2 the previous season. There were more predictions in the 2022/23 season for games to finish 0-0 than in any previous seasons, and with a deal of success. In fact the bore draw was the fifth best result, as it beat the disappointing returns from the 2-0 and 0-2 once again. The big failure for last season was the 2-2, producing its lowest figure in the last nine seasons. Midweek League Cup, Super Cup and U'sual Champions League As wessex_exile said in the U'sual Champions League final thread, he will handing over the administration of this competition to mfb_cufc for next season. I would like to thank him for the excellent way he has run the competition for thirteen seasons, and I see no reason to change the format when I take over. The main reason for me taking over this administration is because the Midweek League Cup is finishing after running for two seasons. I apologise to anybody who is going to miss this competition, but a big number of members decided this competition was not for them last season, and I am not continuing with a competition where little more than half the members want to take part. The end of season Super Cup is staying because I want to reward the automatic promotion winners from Division One in some way. I have yet to decide what will replace the winners of the Midweek League Cup. The break in last season due to the World Cup means this long season only finished yesterday with the Champions League Final. This late finish means next seasons fixtures will already be out on the next two Thursday's. Once they have been released I will be back with details for next season. In the meantime enjoy the sunshine that is forecast to be around for the foreseeable future. [Post edited 5 Jul 2023 17:58]
