Brad's bluster and keeping to budget
Brad's bluster and keeping to budget

Leeds move to keep midfielders.

Leeds today made a last ditch attempt to keep Neil Kilkenny and Brad Johnson at ER.

The quietly spoken Australian Kilkenny has been offered a new-deal according to Sky Sports, however Brad Johnson has been giving the YEP plenty of copyspace and their slant is the 24-year-old wishes to stay at ER.

Both players can leave on a free at the end of June.

Brad is quoted in tonights YEP: “We said we’d wait until the end of the season and now it’s here, so hopefully we’ll be in talks during the week.

“I’d like to stay. I love the club; but it’s taken this long to agree something and obviously other clubs are interested, so it’s up in the air.

“It’s every kid’s dream to play in the Premiership and if I get the opportunity, it’s going to be a hard decision for me because I love the club (Leeds) and I want to be here.

“Then again, I wanted to be here and sign at the beginning of the season and it (talks) broke down. The way it went for playing me. They didn’t have to play me, under the circumstances (after being transfer-listed), but they did.”

This heavily edited mumbo jumbo could be read both ways, Bradders seems to have shifted the blame on the club for not sorting it all out sooner, however Ken Bates accused the player of already being on a better salary than "The Prime Minister" and alledged the player and his agent had rejected the final offer on the table.

It seems doubtful Bates will budge on his stance and Bradley will be heading to one of his suitors, rumoured to be the likes of Stoke or Bolton....every kids dream eh? Simon Grayson has already said several times this week that no player will break the "budget" at the club.

I don't there is any way that Johnson is good enough for the Premiership, I think he's quite limited even at Championship level.
