Swansea City have concerns about the fitness of Jason Scotland as they prepare to start their pre-season training

Scotland - scorer of 29 goals last season - has not had a rest since the season ended thanks to his international commitments along with his countryman Dennis Lawrence.

And Roberto has revealed that Scotland had been suffering with an injury since the turn of the year and he would rather he had spent the last seven weeks relaxing rather than playing football around the world.

Scotland is in action again this weekend as the Soca Warriors aim to overturn a first leg deficit against Bermuda and keep alive their hopes of being at the World Cup in 2010.

And with just a week until the players report back for pre-season, Martinez admits that Scotland is in need of a relax to rest his injury

Talking to News of the World, the Swans manager said "Jason has been suffering with a groin strain since Christmas but he got through until the end of the season.

"We felt that a rest would be good for him this summer but he is playing regularly again for Trinidad which is a worry.  This is a time for him to relax."
