With thanks to those that voted, we are now able to announce the Best XI elected for our inaugural Colchester United Team of the Year award.

19 of the 37 players that pulled on a shirt for the first team received votes, and it's the top 11 that have taken up the spaces in the 4-2-3-1 formation (4-5-1 defensive/4-3-3 attacking), which was most commonly used this season.

First up is the goalkeeper and it'll come as no surprise that Sam Walker took all of the votes for this position.

Similarly, the defence pretty much picked itself. Brian Wilson took 95% of votes for the right back. Tom Eastman and Magnus Okuonghae took 47% and 42% of the centre back votes respectively. John White received votes for both the right back and centre back positions, but his greatest number of votes were for left back, where he picked up 74% percent of the vote, ahead of Bradley Garmston and Michael Rose.

Player of the Year Jabo Ibehre walked the striker vote with 94%. Freddie Sears received the other striker votes.

It's the midfield positions which received the greatest competition and it's the loan players which dominated the vote. Arsenal loanees Craig Eastmond and Sanchez Watt received 19% and 14% of the midfield votes respectively. Chelsea loanee Billy Clifford and Burnley loanee George Porter also received 14% of the vote, leaving the final position to be taken by joint top-scorer Freddie Sears, who received 13%. These players were all allocated positions they received the most votes for, meaning the Team of the Year formation looks as follows...
