Joe Dunne has confirmed that contract offers have been made to two players, and he is close to signing another on loan, as he looks to build his squad for the new season.

The U's boss told the club's website: "I'm confident that we're in a positive position in terms of bringing players in - I have put contract offers to a couple of players and I'm talking to another couple over the next week.

"I've all but agreed a loan deal with a player I want here and I expect that to be tied up pretty soon as well."

With Brian Wilson and Ryan Dickson leaving United to sign for Oldham Athletic and Crawley Town respectively, it's likely that signing a couple of full-backs is top of Dunne's wish list.
