Three New Signings Unveiled
Tuesday, 1st Jul 2014 17:30

Colchester United have confirmed the signing of a new right-back, left-back and goalkeeper.

Joe Dunne has filled the void left by Brian Wilson's, Ryan Dickson's and Mark Cousins' departures by signing Sean Clohessy (pictured above), Ben Gordon and Chris Lewington respectively. All three players have signed two-year contracts.

Sean Clohessy is a 27-year-old right back. He spent last season playing for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, where he made 26 appearances and scored two goals. His previous clubs include Southend United and Gillingham, making 212 appearances (206 starts) between them and scoring six goals. He also spent two season playing non-league at Salisbury.

Ben Gordon is a 23-year-old left back. He, like Clohessy, also spent last season playing in Scotland, where he made 28 appearances (25 starts) for Ross County and scored one goal. He started his career as a youth at Leeds United before joining Chelsea, but failed to make senior appearances for either club. He did get first team experience out on loan at Tranmere Rovers, Kilmarnock, Scunthorpe United, Peterborough United, Birmingham City and Yeovil Town, making a total of 66 first team appearances (61 starts) and scoring one goal while away from Stamford Bridge.

Chris Lewington is a 25-year-old goalkeeper. He has spent all of his professional career at Dagenham & Redbridge - ironically the club Mark Cousins, who he is replacing, has just joined - after initially playing non-league. He made 143 appearances for the Daggers over five years and was their first choice keeper for the past three seasons.
