Striker Signs From Braintree
Tuesday, 8th Jul 2014 18:27

With the U's a striker short following Clinton Morrison's departure, Joe Dunne has opted to bring in a replacement from the Conference Premier, signing Dan Holman from Braintree Town.

24-year-old Holman joins on a two-year deal, after his contract at Cressing Road came to an end this summer, and arrives at United Way with a history of scoring goals for fun.

He started his career at Long Buckby in the United Counties League Premier (the ninth tier in English football), where he found the net 60 times in 77 appearances between 2009-11. He then spent the 2011/12 season at Histon, scoring 29 goals in 45 appearances for the Conference North side. Braintree signed him for an undisclosed fee in August 2012, and in two seasons with the Iron, he scored 24 goals in 72 appearances (58 starts).

Fans will get their first opportunity to see Holman and the other new signings in action this weekend, as the first team open their pre-season campaign at Brantham Athletic on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
