U's Vs Fleetwood - Durham's Preview
Tuesday, 19th Jan 2016 15:24 by Durham Exile

This evening sees the Cod Army in Town for another six pointer.

After the disappointment of that late late winner for the Blades in a game where Colchester deserved to secure at least a point on Saturday, the U's entertain Fleetwood tonight and then travel to manageress Scunny on Saturday.

Now sooner or later the tide must turn in favour of the U's. Whilst the prospect of battering the Cod Army or defeating them hook, line and sinker is very appealing the talking must stop and the results must start to improve.

Even at this stage 51 points looks a long way off, but there are only 20 matches left to secure at least 30 points which will ensure that we stay in League One.

The squad has been strengthened by the arrival of Elliot Lee (on loan until the end of the season) who will add attacking intent to the team. He is now of an age where we can expect him to fire some vital goals to propel the U's up the league.

KK is proving to be a catalyst to inspire and motivate and will be hoping that this youngster will convert some of the chances which we are creating. My only worry is whether Sordell, Porter and Lee can all be accommodated within the 4,4,2 formation which has shored up the side's defensive lapses and given a better shape to the side.

KK has decisions to make, Sordell and Lee offer more pace than Chris Porter at the expense of height but I think that Porter can be used as an impact player.

Similarly the midfield quartet cannot be bettered and this leaves no place for Gavin Massey in the first XI.

Would he consider 4,3,3 in order to play Porter, Sordell and Lee or move Massey to the wing as a third attacker and can Edwards be utilised in the midfield. KK will decide.

In the meantime the following should be sufficient to reel in the Cod Army and ensure that they have had their chips come 9.35 tonight.

Team:

Kean

Brindley Eastman Wynter Briggs

Gilbey Ambrose Garvan Moncur

Sordell Lee

Subs:

Parish, Vincent-Young, Kent, Edwards, Massey, Porter, Bonne

Attendances have been looking up, particularly with the Scummend and Addicks games. After Wednesday there will little to talk about other than that 4th Round match, but the Scunny game is vital and every player will be playing for his place against the Spurs.

Enjoy the game.

Keep the faith.
