Southend Vs U's - Durham's Preview Fri 05th Feb 2016 After the euphoria and hype of the FA Cup last weekend against Spurs, we return to rather more mundane matters, that of League One survival. |
Burton Vs U's - Durham's Preview Fri 27th Nov 2015 RC moved quickly to remove TH after the debacle on Tuesday and his ill judged comments directed at both team and supporters. |
Chesterfield 3 U’s 3 - Noah’s View Mon 14th Sep 2015 Messageboarder Noah4x4 gives his report on the U's draw at Chesterfield. |
Preston 4 U's 2 - Durham's View Mon 06th Oct 2014 Tony Humes took his charges to Deepdale and were perhaps a trifle unlucky to return pointless. The reason they did was unfortunately down to individual defensive mistakes at key times. |
U's 2 Sheffield United 3 - Noah's View Thu 18th Sep 2014 After Magnus’ dismissal at Brisbane Road and the enforced change of tactics that provoked, I reported that we had discovered the value of having three forwards with searing pace (or should it be ‘Sears-n-pace’) and so it proved again against the Blades, but now with eleven men, with the competent and confident sure footed Frankie Kent making his full home debut enjoying a superb game including some accurate and decisive passing out of defence. Proving that we don't need to hoof the ball to be 'more direct'. |
Charlton 4 U's 0 - Noah's View Wed 13th Aug 2014 On the principle that “we have all seen them given” it is perhaps a tad harsh to criticise the referee for awarding a penalty for (deliberate) handball, but we vociferously did so throughout the remainder of the game, albeit the referee might have been flattered by comparisons with ‘Howard Webb on an off day’ (note, here, I have deleted the expletives and otherwise cleaned up this endearment!). |
U's 0 Ipswich 3 - Noah's View Thu 24th Jul 2014 It was a puzzling U's performance in more ways than one. We met more newcomers than I recall on my first day at senior school all kitted out with numbered shirts with no names. Are we saving on kit purchase costs? Despite the pre-match public address announcements it certainly didn't look like Sanchez Watt wearing number 7 and Darren Ambrose's surprise appearance in that shirt didn't disappoint, albeit that a bewildered South Stand were mystified who it was until a helpful Ipswich Fan (here, I confess, he is a pal of mine) amid our ranks offered clarity. The former Palace, Brum and Town veteran (but still only 30) linked well with Sears and the outstanding Dominic Vose as the U's dominated much of the first half and for 45' we looked like the higher ranked side. Our Tractor Boy guest shuffled nervously in his seat whilst he chewed on a carrot top as an upset did look distinctly on the cards. Relax, we said, "it's only a friendly" but the smell of silage as Holman narrowly shot wide defined the half. |
Poll: Who Would Be Your New Captain? Fri 18th Jul 2014 With skipper Brian Wilson departing over the summer to join Oldham Athletic, the U's need to choose a new captain, so in our latest poll, we'd like to know who you'd pick. |
