After a season of disappointment - is it now fair to delight in our enemy’s demise? Is it right to dance on the grave of our arch rival who once again left the play-off race bloodied and bruised?

Should we not lay off players from our past? We once cheered for Lee Camp, Marcus Tudgay & Rob Earnshaw who all tasted bitter defeat at the hands of Swansea.

Instead we laugh at their failure with Forest with Camp in particular being the target of derision and laughter for being made look the clown after a freakish long, long, long, long range goal.

Should we not respect their Manager who once gave us play-off glory and Premier League football (and a headache!) is regularly kicked (not by Nigel!) and derided by Derby fans as if he defaced Brian Clough’s statue rather than just being an annoying loud mouth git.

Is it fair we kick Forest fans while they are down, heaping misery on misery as their team came up short at the same hurdle for the second consecutive year?

Should we, knowing the hurt losing causes, not extend an olive branch of peace and togetherness, to find common ground in a season that found both clubs devastated by the way their seasons ended?

The answer to all of these questions is of course….. No!

Delighting in your greatest rival’s demise is what football is all about.

Although the Rams and their fans have nothing to hang their hat on this season, we should now be more than happy to take the hat stand to Forest’s feelings after Billy messed it up again.

Plus after all the songs regarding ‘Agent Nigel’ in our midst, have they ever considered we may have Agents in their Camp (pardon the pun!)?

Back to back play off defeats could have profound effects on the psyche of the club and its players, not quite being able to climb the mountain can eventually take its toll.

We can only hope so!

It’s funny how after all of our losses including two defeats against the old enemy, that when all is said and done Forest got no more than the Rams out of the season. Instead we finally have a satisfying result to celebrate and with it a new found energy to carry into next season.

To quote the Mary Tyler Moore theme song - there is nothing like a Forest failure to 'take a nothing day and make it all seem worthwhile'!

We will see you next season Tree’s and continue to enjoy watching Billy break your heart and remind us that perhaps things aren’t so bad after all!!

pkay_brum added 14:44 - May 18 Not forgetting Mr Bywater's moment of horror if the Cardiff City goal, in the other Championship play-off SF! He raced out of his area to cut off a through ball, but only cleared it a few feet straight ahead of himself, into the path of Shane Long, who lobbed it in the net from about 30 yards for Reading's first goal :-) He should have thrashed it unceremoniously into touch - his fluffed clearance led to the goal. It's a Bywater trait - if you take a walkie as a goalie, you must get the ball high wide and handsome, into touch and out of danger, and SB has conceded one or two goals like that for Derby as well. He was then well beaten from the penalty that put The Royals 2-0 ahead. Now things are up in the air at Cardiff after David Jones failed to take them further, after 6 years in charge. Bywater might just be another Championship goalkeeper, that neither Derby or Cardiff City want any more.... Fielding's got your Derby shirt, son!

ConnexIV added 14:47 - May 18 Oh my word, this is brilliant. Enjoy the bottom of the championship, its good from up here. The play off defeat was against a team that played better over the two legs, no qualms over that, and good luck to them in the final. The manner of the defeat though, that fills all us tricky trees with massive hope for the future, next season King Billy will guide us up automatic, it better be cos we aint got a great record in the play offs. You however can only cling on the slim glimmer that you think we are deflated after our play off exit.... let me tell you, we are not. The final game and the run in at the end of the season has made all us Forest fans feeling great for next season. We would have rather won of course but hey, if there is a decent way to lose, then thats it, Swans fans love us, two decent teams and sets of fans, and I think most Forest fans will want the Swans to go up. I know all you can cling on to is our play off exit and thats fine. Just remember, we played with pride and desire and the football world salutes us and Swansea for a great game of football, played how it should be. No-one even remembers who derby are. Bye for now.

"Slim Glimmer" is a great name for an 80s Glam-rock revival band, with balding,fat ex-pop rockers straggling round the Nothingham pubs, playing discordant attempts at old Gary Glitter hits. I reckon that this is a coded reference to the the alter ego of Connex? Very clever. I thought there's been some entertaining and half-sensible banter about the F*rest flop on the RZ forum, but Dan (bless him) does seem to have poked a raw nerve there. I think that the average football fan will remember who win the play off final, and like the rest of us, not care too much about "decent" fans, two "decent" teams battling out the semi-final ties, or the emotional spoutings of disappointed Trees fans on a Derby fan site.

pkay_brum added 12:34 - May 19 Now, I remember a breathless, rain-sodden Championship play-off semi-final 2nd leg Vs Southampton, when Wee Billy took Derby to Wembley! An incredible atmosphere, a see-saw game, and the Rams winning through (having won at Soton in the 1st leg) when ex-Ram Inigo Idiakez missed the crucial penalty shoot-out kick! That was a night, that was a game (I think the Trees were in the third division then?), coming out of the stadium in the teeming rain, seeing Wembley seating plans and ticket application details showing on the Shop DCFC windows.... Don't overplay your joy, Connex - losing is a sickener, period - and we've been there with Billy, too. "Feeling great" about the season disspates pretty quickly, miduck. Who will be there in the automatic promotion slots or at Wembley next season? None of us have a clue at the moment - that's football!

ConnexIV added 19:36 - May 19 To be honest Pkay, losing is of course a feeling no-one wants. However, compared to last season, which was a sickner, this seasons defeat feels much easier to swallow. I don't know why, maybe the manner which we went out, maybe the opposition, I'm not sure. pkay_brum added 14:44 - May 21 What bitterness? It's just a hoot that The Trees lost, simples! All Rams fans know that Derby had (another) lousy season in comparison to the Trees and Foxes - but that promises have been made and investment promised at PPS so will look to a better season in 2011-12. Forest fans (like Cardiff supporters) will hope that their club can sustain the challenge next time around. We're realistic about the chances of Messrs Glick & Clough finally pulling it off together, but the mooted 'technical director' appointment might reinforce the football operation. Pleat does a good job in reining in Billy and we want the reverse at Derby - someone to help Clough spend wisely!!
