Facebook Feedback - Should Rams Re-Sign Nigel?
Thu 08th Sep 2011 14:58 by Daniel J Sewart

With the news this week that Tom Glick intends to extend Nigel Clough’s tenure at the Rams in the near future –  RamZone asked its Facebook fans what they thought of the news!?

Personally I think it is the only fair decision as for two seasons Nigel Clough has got the team off to a blinding start.

Last season it ended in near disaster after Nigel and his team was crippled by injury, had to cope with key players being sold from under him followed by a lack of investment to bring in the replacements he required.

We all hope that an even better start to this season will not be allowed to take a similar down turn after recent reports that Glick and co. are not going to be as frugal with their spending as perhaps we expected (when will we learn!!??).

We threw open the discussion on our Facebook page and asked those who ‘like’ us what they thought about Nigel getting a new contract and whether it is a good idea?

This is what some of your fellow Rams fans think about the situation:

Matt Nobby Robinson

How can we possibly be considering this already? This season is make or break for Nigel, and whilst I would love for him to succeed, it’s a concern that this is being talked about already! Lets see where we are come the end of January and then decide! blind faith anybody??

Daniel Dcfc Meakin

I believe that Nigel is the right man for the club at present can not see any other manager doing as good of a job with the money available at the club at this moment in time but don't think it should be extended by a big time scale maybe just an extra 2 years then see were we are. I also believe that Nigel could be as good as his dad the original OBH lets get behind him and the team COYR's

Kev Hill

Give Nigel ten more years; if he hasn’t got it right by then give him another ten.

Nathan Dcfc Morley

Clough is the right man he has done everything the board has asked lowered the wage bill and had to make do with buying lower league players (some have been great i.e.- Brayford, bailey). Clough needs backing in the transfer window to bring good proven players at this level.

Paul Kitchen

It would be disastrous if we allowed him to leave!

Rob Clarke -

Cloughy is defo the right man for the job, he has been and always will be. It's a case of time and patience - he has already steadied the ship whist he cut the wadge budget (not many managers could of done that) and alongside a board which are running the club responsibly - i think clough is the number one guy for the job!

That’s what our Facebook friends had to say on the matter – what do you think?

We plan to make this a regular column on RamZone and hope to get more opinions from those who matter most to the Rams – the Fans!!

All this talk about replacing nigel is nonsense, there is no other manager in this country that would want to make derby a solid prem club as much as nigel would
He is the man for the job long term. The ammount of money derby spend is small change and so to get successfull the board are really going to need to spend the coffers otherwise we will only ever be an okay average championship side
