Shaun Barker

Squad No:5
Position:Defender
Date of Birth:19th September 1982
Previous Clubs:Rotheram, Blackpool

In July 2009 the Rams fended off opposition for the signature of Barker when he joined their sqaud from Blackpool.

Born in enemy territory, the Forest boy had a shaky start with injury keeping him out of action till late in 2009 but when he did return he soon became the all conquering Rams hero.

37 appearances and 5 crucial goals later he had not only sured up the Rams leaky defence, he had saved them from the threat of relegation.

He won the fans 'player of the year' award and has been compared to some of the great Rams centre halves of old.

Shaun Barker is considered to be a future Captain of the club and the player to lead the Rams back to the top flight.

He must be kept on the books at all cost as he is the one player, above all others, crucial to Derby success.
