What I.Saw: "No One Likes Us, We Don't Care"
Sunday, 9th Mar 2014 13:22 by I.Saw

Millwall, “No One Likes Us We Don’t Care” sing the fans. The Lions are the hard men, the thugs, the club that stands when everything else falls.

Not yesterday at the iPro.

Blue Shirts roll. They drop like flies after the ball has gone. Medical men are working overtime. Some stoppages are justified, Danny Shittu for example, but many are not. Injured off the pitch, rolling back on to stop the game and receive treatment. It angers the home supporters.

So does the time wasting. In David Forde, the keeper, Millwall has an expert, the requisite booking a long time coming. It’s a poor way to watch football, especially when you’re losing.

Yes, I accept, we would do the same. We’d be happy too. It’s a partisan thing I agree.

No sour grapes. The Lions deserved their victory. Steve Morison, in front of the goal, rising majestically, he nods home the perfect cross and sends the travelling fans wild.

Morison, shows everything the Rams lack. He chases, closes down, holds the ball up, retains possession and brings others into the game. All that and he scores too.

Derby has an off day, Lee Grant, so much better in recent weeks, flaps at the ball under pressure from a Millwall player and Morison heads home.

Home. We could have left Patrick Bamford there, a dancing JCB if ever there was. Quite how he remained on the pitch was a mystery even Scooby Doo would be had pressed to solve.

Simon Dawkins departed, Conor Sammon slipped away and some other poor bugger was hauled off whilst Posh Boy pranced around like Little Bo Peep who’d lost her sheep and didn’t know where to find them.

Adding daftness to defeat, the club announced substituted Sammon was the fans player of the match.

Manager Steve McClaren was lost for words on Radio Derby later.

The last two statements may or may not be linked.
