McClaren Gets His Men As Rams Raid United & City For Young Stars
Tuesday, 3rd Feb 2015 13:10 by Daniel J Sewart

Steve McClaren produced the most exciting deadline day that Rams fans have experienced in many a year - with loan signings of Tom Ince from Hull City and Jesse Lingard from Manchester United.

Late in the day the club announced that the long rumoured move for Ince was finally taking place - as he crossed from the Tigers to the Rams for the rest of the 14/15 season on loan.

At the age of 23 Ince has showed great potential as both an attacking winger and forward between 2011 & 2014 at Blackpool - where he made 100 appearances and scored an impressive 31 goals.

After moving to Hull City — he found it difficult to find his way into the first team and this campaign was set for a season long loan at Nottingham Forest but was recalled late last year after only 6 matches (awww — cue violins!).

The son of former England Captain Paul Ince, Tom has also represented his Country at U17, U19 and U21 level and will provide pace and attacking prowess out wide for the Rams.

Ince will be welcomed by fans who were crying out for such a signing due to Johnny Russell being out for at least another month with injury - and the return of Jordan Ibe to Liverpool.

The late deadline day drama did not end there - as literally with only minutes to spare — DCFC confirmed another loan signing with Jesse Lingard signing from Manchester United.

The 22 year old plays as an attacking midfielder and is considered highly at United - who have reportedly just signed him for a further 3 and a half years.

Van Gaal is looking to get Lingard regular football, and with McClaren being the ‘go to’ man for top teams looking to help develop their talented youth, it seems that DCFC beat many other attractive suitors to the punch.

Having played for England at Under 21 level, Lingard was signed by the Red Devils in 2012 - and has since found himself loaned to Leicester, Birmingham & Brighton since then.

He started Van Gaal’s first match in charge for United against Swansea but unfortunately was subbed off with an injury 24 minutes in. Since that match he has been unable to break back into the first team and will be desperate to get some game time.

Assisting Derby to achieve promotion would be one way of catching the eye and ensuring he is still in United’s plans going forward.

Manchester United fans have recognised Lingard’s pace and limitless energy while he has is also a proven goal scorer, which he displayed last season while on loan at Birmingham when be banged in 6 goals during his 13 match stay.

Steve McClaren will be hoping both of his signings will get a chance to shine at a level they have both proven they can not only cope with - but excel in.

Like Jordan Ibe, both players have pace and talent to burn but unlike Ibe, both players are more mature and will be desperate to make their mark on the game, as they head into the most important years of their career.

Let’s hope they make that mark at DCFC and not only prove a point to their home clubs - but also show the fans at the iPro that they can be an integral part of the Rams push for promotion.

Welcome to Derbyshire Tom & Jesse — may your stay be a successful one!

Also congratulations must go to Steve McClaren, Sam Rush and the DCFC team for pulling off not just two impressive last day signings, but also landing the likes of Bent, Albentosa and Shotton (permanently) during the window.

With new quality signings into the squad - adding to the depth already there, plus important players like Thorne, Russell & Eustace due back in the weeks to come — the Rams should hit the final stretch with as strong a line up as we will have seen at Derby in many, many years

Let the good times roll! — COYR!!
