The RamZone Wrap: Would You See Clough Sipping Coffee In The Stands?
Sunday, 3rd May 2015 12:38 by Daniel J Sewart

What can I say? Not much. What do I want to say? A lot… but now is not the time… plus this is a family site.

Reading scored 3, Derby scored 0.

Other than that I don’t feel like writing a comprehensive wrap up and I am pretty sure you don’t feel like reading one!

Reading were bright and played with intent, Derby were average and played like a team facing relegation.

From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, Derby has managed to snatch absolutely nothing from a treasure chest, they at one stage, had firmly in their grasp.

Steve McClaren… what do we say? Is he on his way? Has it affected the team?

Could he have done more to arrest the slide? Was he stubborn with his team selection?

What happened to the team that led the Championship 3 times this season, only to lose their steely determination and will to win?

Did they lose their way or did Steve lose the dressing room?

Who knows, who cares… at this moment in time it matters nought.

Derby finished 8th in 2014 / 15 and when all is said and done that is what is set in stone.

Whoever comes and goes on and off the pitch, how the club deals with a second season of heartbreak, the drama of that soap opera is still to come.

And if we are to lose our manager — I hear there is a guy named Clough in Sheffield who has taken a struggling team into the playoffs.

Just a thought… and yes I am joking… or am I?

Would you see a Clough sipping on a coffee in the stands when you are 0-1 down in a do or die match?

What would Brian have said about that?

Even if I knew - I wouldn’t be allowed to print it here!

If our match reporter Ryan Weston can bring himself to type his report, despite the fact every word will feel like razor blades slicing through his fingers, we will present it to you here.

Till next season — that’s a wrap for the wrap.

Now time for a drink or 10!

We Said / They Said - Match Reaction:

We Said — Steve McClaren:

"I'm really annoyed, angry, and frustrated about the last two months and am really determined to do something about it. I'm not making a pledge, this is how I feel at the present moment. I'm under contract at Derby and I've said that all along. I've been questioned about all the speculation which has been going on for about six months.”

"My intention is to sort this out. No one has told me otherwise and until somebody does, that's my determination. I'm angry, frustrated, I want to do something about it. I want to sit down with everybody next week, I think it's too raw, too early to make any kind of statement but what I say is what I mean."

They said — Steve Clarke:

"A lot of performances have been really good but the key moments in the game went against us. But today, the key moments in the game went for us and that's the difference.”

"The players were stuck in a little bit of a rut and had forgotten how to win a game and today they managed to remember so I've told them when they go away for the summer, don't forget what it's like to win a game. So this is a good way for us to finish."
