G.M's Match Preview: Thorne In Rams Side Will Bring Win Over Brentford
Saturday, 3rd Oct 2015 06:30 by George Martin

Derby will welcome back George Thorne as they look to win their first game at the iPro this season - before an international break.

The Rams will take on a Brentford side who seem to be struggling after last seasons play off heroics. They controversially ousted Warburton, but have this week sacked their new manager. Well done Chairman.

They have put ex Ram favourite Lee Carsley and Paul Williams in charge until the end of the season. I'm sure, if given the chance, fans will give them both a warm welcome.

Fans will hope Christie will keep his spot at right back as the pros and cons of Baird, still causes much debate.

In a very poor performance at MK Dons, where Derby somehow managed to win 3-1, Christie again played well enough to keep his place.

The other bright spark in that game was Hendrick, as he made a big impact coming on as sub. He may possibly start ahead of Butterfield, but that's unlikely.

Martin will continue up front with Ince and Russell in their regular wide berths. Some fans would still like Derby to attack with two up front, which would see Bent partner Martin. However, Clement does not seem keen.

Brentford seem like a different side from last season with players like Gray leaving for big fees while John Smith has arrived on loan from Chelsea. James Tarkowski is back from suspension but Alan McCormack has a one-match ban for a fifth booking of the season.

Brentford have found it very hard to keep a clean sheet and have only won one of their last seven championship games.

Prediction:

Derby will look to capitalise on their poor form and potential lack of confidence.

Despite only losing one game all season fans know Derby have, at times, not played well at all. The lack of motivation and all round average performance, that was on display for much of the match at MK Dons, is not acceptable.

With a bumper crowd expected, Derby will hope to make it a good six game run and win.

Derby to win 2-0 and Martin to score.
