Manic Days Ahead As Pearson Shapes Slow Starting Rams
Monday, 29th Aug 2016 13:12 by Nathan Morley

As we head into the break - it seems that current members of the Rams squad could be on the way out - while more arrivals may soon be on the way to the iPro.

There is no doubt that weekend signing Matej Vydra could well be a good addition, especially with goals in short supply but the question is who will be his strike partner?

James Wilson arrived earlier this week but what about Chris Martin? I think it looks very possible that the Rams current number 9 will leave, with Fulham rumoured to be a possible suitor, while Pearson may even add a further addition up front.

If there are more striker signings then you would think Bent and Blackman may leave too. Wages would possibly be a sticking point, so loans with Derby paying a good percentage of the wages seem the most likely possibility.

Hendrick looks like he may be on his way to Hull and Russell could be heading out too with strong rumours persisting in the weekend press that both are the subject of interest from various clubs.

Throughout much of the summer a couple of right-backs have been linked with the club. I personally think Christie has improved massively since he first joined, he’s stronger defensively and his crossing going forward is far better. So not really a priority in my opinion.

Another position to look out for is central midfield. I wonder what Pearson makes of that position, to fit his style maybe there willneed to be changes.

Bryson as ever ran his socks off on Friday but everybody around him had terrible games with both Butterfield and Hughes ineffective. I hoped the new season and new manager would help reignite Johnson’s Derby career too but the signs aren’t too good so far.

What’s becoming clear is that the starting XI that lined up at the Pirelli on Friday looks like it will be very different from the one that takes on Newcastle after the international break.

It looks like we are in for a manic few days.
