Although born in Burton, Lewin qualifies to play for Wales and in fact became their youngest ever U21 player when he came on as a second half substitute against Germany at Wrexham in February 2005, at the tender age of 16 years and 174 days. That's not the only record Lewin holds though, as two days before his 17th birthday, he took over the captain's armband in the second half of the 3-1 win over Malta.

Lewin signed a two year professional contract on his 17th birthday and is now looking to take his opportunity. He is highly regarded by the Rams academy staff, possesses plenty of ability and has an imposing physique for someone of his age.

Lewin was allowed out on loan to Barnsley until Jan 1st 2008 and was recalled to Pride Park in January. He made three appearances but was allowed to return to Barnsley on loan for the rest of the season as thetransfer window closed.
