RamBites: No to Gunner & Lionel Remembered.

RamZone has prepared some easy to digest pieces of news and all things Derby County, in the first ever edition of 'Ram Bites'.

First off, it seems Nigel has decided what is not good enough for Arsenal is not good enough for him. Clough put an end to the possibility of taking Gunner Mark Randall on loan this season after he declared the player did not fit into the mould he has in mind for the team.

He spoke to the Derby Evening Telegraph about what he is looking for:

“We need somebody who is going to come in and really challenge the three central midfielders we have in there. We have three very good players – Robbie Savage, Stephen Pearson and Paul Green – and arguably they have impressed as much as anybody in the last three or four weeks.”

The Official Site carried the news that Lionel Pickering will be the focus of a special remembrance day by Derby County at Pride Park on the opening day of the season.

Lionel Pickering Day', will be a special event in recognition of the tireless efforts that he made to ensuring Derby County continued to be a force in English football.

The day will also mark the unveiling of a new memorial, the Lionel Pickering Entrance, which is a replica of the entrance to the Baseball Ground. It will even be made using the same bricks from the structure it is set to replicate.

Derby notched up two more pre-season wins this week, with 3-2 results over both Matlock Town and Notts County. Aleksander Prijovic scored a late winner to triumph over Town and Commons in his return to first team action, did the same against County.

Neither wins were comprehensive but as Nigel tests and tinkers with his squad the victories are a bonus. As injured players begin to filter back in and new signings begin to gel with their new team mates, winning games will be seen as a major bonus.

I am sure there are plenty of Newcastle United supporters who would be quite happy with similar results.
