Jewell Tightlipped on Davies
Wed 18th Jul 2012 09:31 by TWTD.co.uk

Town boss Paul Jewell remained tightlipped on whether Derby striker Steve Davies was amongst his targets when quizzed after last night's 1-1 draw with Dutch side Helmond Sport. The 24-year-old, who is set to leave the Rams during the close season, is understood to have been on Jewell’s radar all summer but with the clubs unable to agree a fee.

The Blues manager said: “Steven Davies was a player I signed from Tranmere for Derby and I think he’s a good player, but there are a number of good players and we could be here all night talking about speculation.

“I don’t really want to talk about speculation at the moment. We know we’re three or four players light of a squad which is going to be competitive.”

Jewell says a striker will be amongst those new additions: “We’re looking to strengthen, to bring in another centre forward, goalkeeper and two other players.”
