Lonergan could trot if Whites move for Paddy Kenny

The Bolton Evening News report today that Andy Lonergan could be set for a return to the wrong side of the Pennines, if Leeds land Paddy Kenny.

Just a year after landing Lonergan, Leeds could now be off-loading the former Preston keeper with Bolton a likely destination.

Paddy Kenny's long anticipated move to Elland Road took a step closer yesterday after his club QPR landed West Ham's Robert Green and Neil Warnock told listeners of Talksport that he had not ruled out a move for Kenny - who as spent most of his playing days under Warnock at Rangers, Sheffield United and also Bury.

QPR are believed to want £500,000 for Kenny. Due to the protracted ongoing "investment" talks which have hamstrung Warnock's moves in the transfer-market since paying cash for Jason Pearce, maybe he will be forced into a bit of wheeling and dealing? By off-loading Lonergan, one of just handful of sellable assets, could give Warnock the fee needed to reunite himself with ex Eire keeper Kenny.

It seems unlikely that Warnock could have both Lonergan and Kenny in his squad as he is known not to name a goalkeeper amongst his subs, however his emergency "keeper" Leigh Bromby will be out until at least Christmas but I just cannot see either Big Andy or Kenny warming the bench.

I would be sad to see Lonergan go. I thought he was one of the few success stories from last season, bar the Forest home game! At the end of the day he was a Simon Grayson signing and despite my reservations about Kenny's age and some of his well-publicised off-field antics, Warnock knows him better than anyone else.

If we are grumbling about Papa Smurf not backing Neil, I cannot really moan about any desire to replace Big Andy with Kenny - just keep him away from the Halifax curry houses is all I will say!
