Rudi red-card appeal fails
Rudi red-card appeal fails

Leeds unsurprisingly have lost their appeal against Rodolph Austin's red-card against Brighton and the Jamaica international will miss the game at Watford and our opening two matches of 2013/14.

Austin was sent off for "striking an opponent" having earned himself a straight red-card for clashing with Ashley Barnes. Austin appeared to run into Barnes, moments after being on the receiving end of a hefty challenge from the same player.

Hapless referee Graham Scott sent Austin off and also El Hadji Diouf for appearing to grab his crotch in front of the visiting fans who had hurled vile chants in his direction.

Leeds however were more generous towards Austin's plight than that of Diouf. The Senegalese international copped a fine which will cost him two-weeks wages, which personally I felt was way over-the-top and has inadvertently raised speculation over his future at the club on other websites, although Brian McDermott insists the 31-year-old remains part of his plans.
