Leeds land Stewart as Kebe waits in the wings?
Leeds land Stewart as Kebe waits in the wings?

Cameron Stewart arrived in Leeds today, initially on-loan with the view to complete a three-year permanent deal in the summer, however Leeds are far from finished yet in their January sales spree as Jimmy Kebe is expected to be next and possibly Brighton striker Ashley Barnes on the list too?

Clearly those who were shouting for Brian McDermott's head on Saturday following the abysmal defeat at Rochdale in the FA Cup will have to accept he will be around for a little bit longer as Cameron Stewart arrived from Hull via Charlton.

Stewart faced his new team mates in November whilst on loan to the Addicks, but having returned to Hull and being told by Steve Bruce he had no future, the winger will initially join us on loan and make his move permanent come the summer. This is because of Stewart's time spent in London, league rules state he cannot play for more than two clubs in one season, so initially we have to bring him in on loan and do the real deal in the summer.

On the official Leeds website, Stewart talked of being impressed by the Leeds fans whilst playing for Hull and Charlton despite them giving him "some stick". Nothing to do with the 22-year-old being born in Manchester and citing a certain team in red as his first club im sure? Although he did say one family member, his Uncle who is a Leeds fan will be delighted. Leeds will be Stewart's SIXTH loan club having played for Yeovil, Blackburn, Burnley, Charlton and Hull (initially on loan).

It also seems imminent that another winger, Jimmy Kebe will sign with Leeds having agreed a loan deal with Crystal Palace for the player who McDermott knows from his Reading days.

Some quarters are hinting at a third-deal, Ashley Barnes of Brighton, who apparently has all but agreed a £750,000 deal to join Burnley but Leeds apparently poised to try and hijack the deal.

The signing of the two wingers is a no brainer and we cannot really say they are better than what we have got because we haven't got any wingers and haven't really had any since Max Gradel left for St Etienne two and a half years ago!

The deals for Stewart and the likely arrival of Kebe will surely kill stone-dead any hope of re-signing Mad Max from his injury-riddled hell in France?

As for Stewartm getting a proven player at Championship level and very much under 30, sounds a good move to me? Lets hope he lives up to his billing. Ironically one of his goals for Charlton came against us and it was pretty special from what I can recall!
