Middlesbrough Preview: Butland to face shot-shy Boro?
Middlesbrough Preview: Butland to face shot-shy Boro?

Jack Butland seems almost certain to make his Leeds United debut at the Roverside on Saturday (KO 12:15).

The England and Olympic Games custodian has signed on loan from Stoke until the end of the season and with Paddy Kenny apparently suffering an ankle-injury, Butland is expected to go straight into Brian McDermott's starting XI.

According to McDermott, Kenny has had the ankle Christmas since the Christmas holiday defeat against Nottingham Forest and will lose his ever-present record tomorrow against Aitor Karanca's men.

Butland hopefully won't have too much of a busy afternoon as Middlesbrough have failed to score in their last five matches. It most certainly is a case of a tale of two keepers as at the other end veteran Shay Given plays the last game of his three-month loan from Aston Villa.

Sam Byram faces a late fitness test on a slight hamstring strain as Leeds look to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss at Brighton 10-days ago. We will at least have Cameron Stewart back, McDermott choosing to "rest" him in order to extend his loan-period. Stewart has showed signs of promise during his short-spell at Leeds and hopefully he can provide some ammo for Ross McCormack, the striker who Boro so desperately wanted and failed to get with a measly £2m bid in the summer.

For the hosts, Boro could give a debut to striker Lee Tomlin according to BBC Sport, however defender Ben Gibson is banned.

Although we lost here last season, we have a pretty good record against Boro including November's 2-1 win and I fancy us sneaking a tight 1-0 on Saturday with McCormack (who else?) tomorrow.
