Belgium in to last 16

An 88th minute goal from substitute Divock Origi gave Belgium a 1-0 win over Fabio Capello’s Russia, and guaranteed progression in to the last 16.

Belgium had once again struggled to build up any head of steam with Russia having the best of a pretty poor match.

Belgium’s first great chance didn’t come until the 84th minute, Everton’s Kevin Miralles hitting the woodwork.

Origi replaced Romelu Lukaku who was once again poor, and he struck the late winner.
After the game, Belgium boss Marc Wilmots said: "[Origi] is in a good space right now. He's 19 years old. It was a bit of a surprise since he was an unknown before I selected him. Now everyone knows who he is.

"It was a hard game because the Russians were expecting us - the players were tired, it was hot, the Russians were already cramping up after 60 minutes.

"It was not an easy match but I think we deserved to win it."

Meanwhile, Fabio Capello said he was pleased with his team’s performance and felt the result was unfair.
