Inspired by bravado of little London club, Millwall chase Matt Smith! Thursday, 10th Jul 2014 07:46 Cor Blimey Geeza! Following little Fulham's capture of Ross McCormack, across town littler Millwall are planning their own daring raid on Elland Road. Those charming men from down Bermondsey way have been after Matt Smith all summer, according to an exclusive by News At Den, a Millwall fansite. The article claims that Ian Holloway identified 12-goal Smith as a priority target at a meeting before the break and Massimo Cellino has been "difficult" to track down all summer. However a bid was rejected according to News at Den, but Ian Holloway will pursue the giant striker and Leeds, who face losing him for nothing next summer will be desperate to cash in. Smith was one of Brian McDermott's few successes in the transfer market. Signed from Oldham on a free, he had a reputation of being a big-game player following his high-profile FA Cup goals against Liverpool and Everton. However he made the step-up to the Championship effortlessly and surely would have had more starts had McDermott picked him more often, oddly preferring to start with his cherished former Reading striker Noel Hunt who has yet to score for us! Hopefully Massimo and Dave Hockaday have not even contemplated selling Smith, who brings options to the team and why on earth would he want to go to a place like Millwall. With his degree in International Management with American Business Studies, I'm sure Smith would find many kindred spirits at the New Den or at least the vile Rod Liddle, who allegedly is a bit of an intellect.
