Nigel Adkins is being lined-up as the next Leeds United head-coach according to the Daily Mirror.

The former Scunthorpe and Southampton coach who was fired by Reading last December has emerged as the front-runner according to the Mirror, with Massimo Cellino ready to offer the 50-year-old Neil Redfearn's job.

With a track-record at winning promotion for the Saint's and Scunthorpe, appointing Adkin's would quell any discontent amongst the supporters who are largely behind Neil Redfearn. However Redfearn's position looks increasingly vulnerable and he cuts an isolated figure. His current deal expires on June 30th and there doesn't appear to be any hurry to offer him a new contract from Cellino.

Redfearn has meanwhile been linked with the vacant post at Chesterfield following Paul Cook's departure to Portsmouth.

However is the head-coach for season 2015/16 will be boosted by the news that the transfer-embargo imposed in January has been lifted. Leeds were found to be in breach of Final Fair Play rules as were restricted as to who they could sign in the last transfer-window.
