Wood Delph move open up striker-search?

Could Leeds be in for an unexpected cash-windfall if Fabian Delph moves from Aston Villa to Manchester City?

Delph is being hotly tipped to move to the Ethiad stadium barely five-months into his new Villa deal. The former-Leeds midfielder could have been a free-agent this summer had he not penned a new deal at Villa Park. Now it appears moneybags Manchester City are looking to exploit a release clause in the contract where Delph can quit the struggling Midlanders for just £10m.

It is understood that Leeds inserted a "sell on" clause into the 2010 transfer of 25%. So if this was the case Leeds would stand to gain £2.5m from any sale of Delph for the £10m fee.

So however unpopular the decision was to sell Delph, we could be in for a timely boost in the transfer-kitty. Leeds are yet again on a tight-budget as Uwe Rosler recently confirmed. It may enable us to hijack Leicester striker Chris Wood's proposed move from Leicester to Wolves?

Wood's time at the King Power Stadium looks likely to be up. Apparently he has failed to agree terms with Wolves and as well as us, QPR are also supposedly interested.

I remember him scoring against us for Millwall but don't no much else about him, apparently he's good in the air. At £2.5million aged 26 I suppose he's about the going rate for a Premiership reserve player.

Leeds apparently also suffered another knock-back yesterday when Birmingham City reportedly turned down a £750,000 bid for their 31-year-old striker Clayton Donaldson.

It's been a sluggish summer so far in the transfer-window for Leeds. Let's hope as pre-season training resumes up and down the country some serious business is done in the transfer market because to me, we still look an imbalanced, weak side and nailed on for another season of midtable mediocrity.
