Yet another Cellino in trouble for making stupid comments
Friday, 29th Apr 2016 19:14 by Tim Whelan

Ercole Cellino has become only the latest member of the Cellino family to heap embarrassment on the club by making highly inappropriate remarks on social media.

This is getting ridiculous. Ercole Cellino, son of our very esteemed club president Massimo, has seen fit to upload a picture of himself having a haircut to his Instagram account, using the hashtag ‘#nazi’. He may have had a brief moment of common sense when he deleted the photo, but then he saw fit to up load it again, adding ‘#ss’,‘#gestapo’, ‘#army #military #guerilla and #warrior’.

You could be forgiven for not knowing that Ercole was a director of Leeds United. It’s not as if his name has ever been mentioned in connection with actually doing anything useful on behalf of the club. But his official position will of course allow the FA to take action against him for these comments, along with his dad (for sexism) and brother Eduardo (for insulting the disabled).

Ercole later offered an apology over social media, saying “I did not mean to offend anyone. Look, I can be anything but anti-Semitic and racist.” This wording suggests that at other times he is anti-Semitic and racist, but that might just be down to English not being his first language.

It’s not even Ercole’s first offence, as he has previous form in this area for telling a female fan to ‘stop eating whale’ on his Instagram account. What a truly lovely family they are.

Protest group Time To Go Massimo, told the Daily Mail “We are disappointed, yet sadly not surprised to once again see a member of the Cellino family and a director of the club bring Leeds United's name into disrepute through his own ignorance.”

“Any knowledge of the history of our club would tell him the post was at the least misguided, and disrespectful to those that once made this club great. This further cements the fact he is not fit to hold such a lofty position at Leeds United Football Club.”

Their quote is a reference to Leeds United’s have a long-running connection to the city’s Jewish community stretching back to the 1960s, with two of the club’s three league championships coming under Jewish ownership. This includes the late Leslie Silver, who was in charge from 1983-96, and did a far better job of running the club than any chairman or owner we’ve had since.

When are we going to be rid of this current bunch of clowns?
