Leeds United: Rotation Expected From Opponents
Monday, 19th Sep 2016 13:33 by Lucas Monk

Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle has confirmed that he will make wholesale changes for his side's EFL Cup third round tie against Leeds tomorrow.

Defenders Tommie Hoban and Derrick Williams are cup-tied. Striker Danny Graham, utility man Charlie Mulgrew, and defenders Elliott Ward and Adam Henley remain sidelined, while former Falkirk forward Anthony Stokes is a doubt.

The match is Coyle’s side’s fourth of seven in the space of 21 days and precedes another crucially important league encounter away to Derby County at the IPRO Stadium at the weekend.

Coyle, who will start former Southport loanee David Raya in goal and include Connor Mahoney along with the fit-again former Norwich wide-man Elliott Bennett in his squad, has insisted that the side he will field will possess the sufficient quality to dump United out of the cup.

“We want to be in every cup and we want to win every game we play," the former Burnley boss remarked.

“I think given the injury situation we’ve got, a clear week would have been beneficial for us to get ready for Derby.

“But we’ve not got that luxury so we’ll pick ourselves up and try and win a tough game at Leeds.

“There will be eight or nine changes as there are a number of players who need an opportunity to play that have quality.

“In turn that allows us to give one or two a little break in readiness for Derby on Saturday.

“We’ll have a team that is competitive, a team that we will try and win the game, and a team I believe that can go and cause Leeds problems.”

In terms of Leeds team news, Liam Bridcutt could return after missing out on Saturday's win with a bruised foot. Marcus Antonsson could also start after being dropped for Chris Wood in the aforementioned match.
