Leeds United: Whites Linked With International Midfielder Tuesday, 3rd Jan 2017 20:27 by Lucas Monk Leeds United have been linked with a January transfer swoop for VFB Stuttgart's 26 year-old Romanian international Alexandru Maxim. According to the German newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten, United have been in talks with the player since Christmas, and that discussions are still ongoing. United head coach Garry Monk has reportedly maintained an interest in Maxim, who has made over 100 appearances for Stuttgart since joining the club in 2013, since his days as Swansea boss. With Pablo Hernandez's loan deal set to expire this month, the link appears to be a plausible one, though United do have the option to make the Spaniard's move permanent. Maxim has scored two goals in 16 appearances for Stuttgart in Bundesliga 2 this season, while also laying on a further five for his teammates. At international level, Maxim has won 27 caps for Romania since 2012, netting twice. Hull City are also rumoured to be eager to secure the services of the player.
