Leeds United: Whites Set to Sign Spanish Youngster on Loan
Sunday, 29th Jan 2017 21:16 by Lucas Monk

Leeds United are reportedly set to sign Villarreal CF youngster Alfonso Pedraza on loan.

Yahoo Sport writer Andrew Gaffney has purported that the Elland Road club are set to sign Pedraza, 20, on loan until the end of the season via his official twitter account.

As Gaffney's latter tweet articulates, Pedraza, a fledgling, fleet-footed winger who has made four first-team appearances for Villarreal to date, had been on loan at CD Lugo, where he'd notched up seven goals and six assists in 23 league appearances.

Villarreal, of La Liga, have forked out €300,000 to prematurely terminate the player's loan contract with the Segunda Division side, and the player, who has been capped at youth level for Spain in recent years, looks set to move to Elland Road.

Should Leeds attain promotion to the Premier League this season, Pedraza's loan will manifest into a permanent transfer. Should this eventuate, United would have to pay to Villarreal a fee in the region of €10 million to conclude a permanent transfer for the left winger.

The deal is anticipated to be announced within the next few days; as Pedraza was omitted from the Lugo squad for their fixture away to Zaragoza earlier today.
