Leeds United: Garry Monk linked with Barrow reunion
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2017 10:54 by Lucas Monk

Rumours have purported that Swansea City's 24 year-old winger Modou Barrow could be set for a reunion with Leeds United head coach Garry Monk.

The Gambian international has been heavily linked with a loan move to Elland Road in recent days and the Daily Mirror have proclaimed that the player is currently in conversation with the club with a view to moving to West Yorkshire on a loan basis.

Barrow was signed on Monk's watch in 2014, from Swedish Allsvenskan club Ostersunds FK, a club for whom the fleet-footed winger scored 10 league goals in just 19 league games. The Gambian has incidentally played on 19 occasions for Swansea in the Premier League this season, but is yet to receive a start under new head coach Paul Clement in 2017.

Divisional rivals Newcastle United are also rumoured to have taken a keen interest in Barrow, should the Magpies fail in their endeavours to secure a deal for Andros Townsend.

The winger is no stranger to the Championship, having played for both Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers in two separate loan spells in 2015. At international level, he has accrued five caps for Gambia.

Barrow has, in recent years, predominantly featured on the right wing, though his most productive seasons in front of goal have arisen when he has been utilised as a striker previously. He would add depth and versatility to the Leeds United attack, whilst also providing welcome competition for the often profligate Hadi Sacko.
